Whether you’re throwing a party at home or a private party at a fun party venue, like BounceU, there are so many indoor birthday party activities for kids and tots to play! Take a look at these 10 fun indoor party game ideas children will love the next time you throw a party for your kid.
Active Indoor Birthday Games
Hide and Go Seek
Hide and Go Seek is a great party game that can be played indoors and outdoors, while also keeping the kids active. The object of the game is for the seeker to find the rest of the kids, who have hidden around the house or party place. Whoever the seeker finds first gets to be the seeker during the next round of the game.
Duck, Duck, Goose
This game keeps kids very active at parties, because it involves running. During Duck, Duck, Goose, kids sit in a circle, with one walking around patting everyone’s head while saying “duck.” Once the seeker pats someone’s head and says “goose,” that person must then get up and chase the seeker around the circle. If the seeker runs to that person’s spot and sits down first, he or she is no longer the seeker. Or if the seeker gets tagged before they can sit down, then they remain seeker.
Egg and Spoon Race
Egg and Spoon Race is a fun game that can be played indoors. Hard boil eggs before your party–enough for the amount of kids that will be attending– or use plastic Easter eggs and gather the same amount of spoons. Give each child a spoon and an egg and instruct them to put the egg on the spoon. The object of the game is to be the first to cross the finish line without dropping the egg off of the spoon.
Treasure Hunt
This is a great game to keep kids active, because they’ll be running around the house or birthday place trying to be the first to win the scavenger or treasure hunt. Easily set up the game by making hints on paper to find the treasure. Start the game off by giving each kid, or team, a hint and watch as they follow the hints to the treasure!
Bean Bag Toss
Whether you have a cornhole board or are using makeshift buckets, kids will love this game. Typically, this game is played with two teams going against each other. Set up your cornhole boards, or your buckets, so that there is at least one bucket for each team. Have the kids take turns being on the two teams. Whoever tosses the most bean bags into their opponents bucket(s) wins!
DIY Indoor Kids Party Games
Ring Toss
Much like Pin the Tail on the Donkey, this game can be bought, but it is also easily made with items you already have at home. Use cones or buckets and find rings, such as rings that are pool toys. Have the kids try to toss the rings into the buckets or around the cones. It’s a super easy and fun game that kids will love!
Charades
Charades is a fun and easy DIY game. Simply write down different things, such as monkey, TV, going to bed, or singer, on little pieces of paper. Divide the kids into two teams. The teams will take turns picking one piece of paper at random. Each turn, one person from the team will look at the paper and act out what it says without talking. Their team will have to guess what it is before the timer runs out. The team who guesses the most by the end of the game wins.
Pin the Tail on the Donkey
This game can easily be bought in stores, but it’s a lot more fun when you make it yourself! Print out or draw a picture of a donkey without a tail, then make enough tails for all the kids that will be at the party. Use tape for the tails to stick to the donkey. Blindfold each child during their turn, spin them around, then face them towards the donkey and let them try to pin the tail on the donkey! Whoever gets closest to pinning the tail on the donkey wins!
Pass the Parcel
Kids will love this game because whoever wins, gets a present! Buy a present that all the kids at the party will like–maybe a toy or a candy. Then wrap the present in multiple layers of wrapping paper. Have the kids sit in a circle and give them the present. They’ll each take turns unwrapping one layer of the paper. Whoever takes off the last layer wins the present!
Button, Button
Button, Button is a fun guessing game that only requires one button to play. The object of the game is to guess who has the button. All the children, except the child with the button, sit in a circle. The person who starts with the button, or the leader, is in the middle of the circle. All the children will put their hands together so that their palms and fingers are touching. Everyone except the leader closes their eyes while the leader goes around touching everyone’s hands. At any point, the leader can choose which person to pass the button onto by opening their hands and secretly giving them the button. Once the leader passes on the button, the kids can open their eyes and guess where the button is. Whoever finds the button first is the next leader.
